Maybe six children, but not adults. I would recommend sitting two people on each long side, and nobody at the end. If you're sitting at the end, you spend all mealtime with your feet hitting the legs. It is a remarkably flexible piece of furniture and have used it both as a dining table and sofa/cocktail table.
